Tray Harder · Effective July 16, 2026 · Version 2.3

The short version: Tray Harder does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no tracking. We have no way to see, recover, or restore your information. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple — we receive only a local confirmation flag, never your payment details or identity.

1. What data the app stores

Tray Harder stores the following information locally on your device to provide its core functionality. All of this data exists only on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

All data is stored in a local SQLite database and in the app's sandboxed file system. None of it ever leaves your phone.

2. On-device data sharing

Tray Harder includes an Apple Watch companion app, home-screen widgets, lock-screen widgets, and a Live Activity. These extensions share a subset of data with the main app through an App Group container — a secure, sandboxed storage area provided by Apple for on-device data sharing between an app and its extensions.

The shared data includes: current timer state (in or out, when the current state started), today's accumulated wear time, your daily goal, current tray number, total tray count, next switch date, and a seven-day compliance summary used by the widget mini-calendar.

This data never leaves your device. The App Group mechanism is entirely local and does not involve any network communication.

3. What data we collect

None. Tray Harder has no servers, no cloud backend, no user accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect, receive, or have access to any of your data at any time. We have no way to identify you, contact you, or recover anything you enter into the app.

Because we hold no personal data about you, no "data controller" or "data processor" role applies to us under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Israel's Protection of Privacy Law (5741-1981), or any equivalent law. If you contact us, we will not be able to look up, retrieve, or modify any of your data, because we never had it.

We do not sell, rent, lease, license, share, or otherwise disclose any personal information to any third party for any purpose, because we have no personal information to sell, rent, lease, license, share, or disclose. We do not engage in "cross-context behavioral advertising" and do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act.

Tray Harder contains no user-to-user communication features, no social network features, no public profiles, no chat, no comments, no community posts, no leaderboards, and no other shared spaces in which you could interact with other users of the App. Each installation operates entirely in isolation on its user's device.

4. In-app purchases

Tray Harder offers a single optional one-time in-app purchase ("Tray Harder Pro") processed entirely through the Apple App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework.

What Apple processes

When you initiate a purchase, your payment details, billing information, and Apple ID are transmitted directly to Apple. Tray Harder never receives, sees, or stores your payment information, your Apple ID, or any identifier connecting you to a real-world identity. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.

What Tray Harder stores locally

When Apple confirms a successful purchase, Tray Harder writes a single small file to its private sandbox containing one field: the date and time the Pro status was unlocked. This file contains no payment information, no Apple ID, no identifier, and no personal data. It is never transmitted anywhere.

Restoring purchases

If you reinstall the app or use a new device, you can restore your purchase using the "Restore Purchase" button on the paywall screen. This triggers a query to Apple's StoreKit to verify your prior purchase against your Apple ID. Tray Harder only learns whether the purchase exists — it receives no other information from Apple during this process.

Refunds

All purchases are subject to Apple's refund policies. To request a refund, use Apple's standard refund process at reportaproblem.apple.com or through your App Store purchase history. Tray Harder has no ability to issue refunds directly and no access to your payment information.

Effect on App Store privacy label

Tray Harder maintains an App Store privacy label of "Data Not Collected." This remains accurate because Tray Harder itself does not collect, transmit, or receive any data — including during the purchase flow. All transaction data remains between you and Apple.

5. Third-party services

Tray Harder does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking services. No SDKs of that kind are present in the app.

The app uses react-native-iap, an open-source library that acts as a JavaScript-side interface to Apple's native StoreKit framework. This library is not a service: it does not independently collect, store, or transmit any data. All purchase communication goes directly from Apple's StoreKit to Apple's servers.

If you downloaded Tray Harder from the Apple App Store, Apple may separately collect usage and diagnostics data, including crash reports if you have opted in under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share With App Developers. Apple's data collection is controlled by your device settings and is entirely outside our control. If you enable that setting, anonymized crash reports may be available to us through Apple's developer reporting tools; we receive no information that identifies you personally.

6. Local notifications

Tray Harder can send local notifications to remind you to put your aligners back in after meals, escalate those reminders if you remain without aligners, warn you when your daily break budget is running low, prompt a bedtime check-in, remind you the day before and the morning of tray switches, and remind you the day before and the morning of orthodontist appointments.

All notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device using iOS's built-in notification framework. There are no push notification servers, no external services, and no network communication involved in sending or scheduling them. Notification content never leaves your device.

7. Device permissions

Tray Harder may request the following permissions. All are optional unless stated otherwise. The app continues to function without any of them, except for the specific features each enables.

You can review and revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings under Tray Harder.

8. Sharing reports and photos

Tray Harder lets you generate the following shareable items on demand:

Each item is generated on your device only when you explicitly request it and is handed to the iOS share sheet, which is controlled by Apple and the operating system. Once a file leaves the share sheet, it is governed by whatever app or service you sent it to — that is outside our control. Tray Harder does not retain copies of shared items and does not transmit them anywhere on its own.

Because these items may contain sensitive treatment information, only share them with people and services you trust.

9. Data deletion

You are in full control of your data at all times. Two destructive actions are available:

10. International users and data rights

Because Tray Harder does not collect, transmit, or store any data outside your device, there is no personal data held by us subject to access, portability, correction, or deletion requests under any data protection regulation, including:

Your data exists only on your device and is fully under your control. There is nothing for us to access, port, correct, or delete on your behalf because we hold nothing. Deleting the app permanently removes all of it.

11. Children's privacy

Tray Harder does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). Because no data is transmitted from the device, the app is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the children's data provisions of the GDPR and UK GDPR, and equivalent regulations in other jurisdictions.

Clear aligner treatment is commonly prescribed to teenagers. If a parent or guardian installs Tray Harder for a minor, all data entered by that minor remains on the device and is never transmitted to us. No special parental consent is required because we collect nothing.

12. Health and medical data

Tray Harder does not integrate with Apple Health, HealthKit, or any other health data platform. While the app lets you track aligner wear time and log pain levels, this data is stored only within the app's local database and is not shared with or accessible to any other app or service.

Tray Harder is not a medical device, is not registered as a medical device with any regulator, and has not been validated for clinical use. It is a personal productivity tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any medical or dental condition. Wear time goals, tray schedules, streak counts, freeze markers, compliance percentages, and pain log entries are all derived from data you enter and are presented for motivational and personal tracking purposes only.

The wear timer relies on you manually starting and stopping sessions. We make no representation that recorded wear time, compliance percentages, streak data, freeze markers, or any other derived statistic is accurate enough to be relied upon for medical, dental, insurance, or legal purposes, or as evidence of treatment compliance in any dispute. Always corroborate your treatment progress with your orthodontist's direct observation.

Some features (streaks, automatically-applied "freeze" days that preserve a streak after a missed day, escalating put-back reminders) are designed for motivation. These are not clinical recommendations and may be modified or removed in future app updates without notice.

13. Data security

All data in Tray Harder is stored within iOS's sandboxed file system and SQLite database, which benefit from iOS's built-in data protection and device encryption. When your device is locked, the app's data is encrypted by the iOS Data Protection system using your device passcode.

Progress photos are stored in the app's private Documents directory, which is not accessible to other apps. Photo files are subject to the same iOS data protection as the rest of the app's data.

Because no data is transmitted over a network, there is no server-side attack surface and no risk of breach affecting our infrastructure (we have none). The primary security risks are physical access to an unlocked device and any deliberate sharing you initiate through the iOS share sheet. We recommend using a strong device passcode and Face ID or Touch ID.

14. Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date and version number. Material changes will be announced within the app on first launch after the update.

Because Tray Harder has no way to contact users directly (no accounts, no email collection), we encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

15. Contact

Tray Harder is published by an independent individual developer. It is not affiliated with any company, hospital, dental practice, orthodontic provider, or aligner manufacturer.

For privacy questions or to report a concern, contact:

alignertrack.app@proton.me

We aim to respond within 5 business days. Because we hold no personal data about you, we cannot look up, recover, or modify anything in your installation — but we are happy to answer questions about how the app works and how your data is handled.
